Engineering development for humanity

The Michigan Tech International Senior Design class has provided real world international sustainable engineering experiences to 136 students in many engineering disciplines, plus humanities. More than 50% of its participants are women. International Senior Design has initiated and constructed projects in Bolivia and the Dominican Republic.

Goals

1. Provide a meaningful class experience that combines field construction with an engineering design project to benefit people of the developing world

2. Consider economic and health factors, societal impact, application of appropriate technology, constructability and sustainability, safety, reliability, aesthetics, ethics, and environmental limitations of the developing world
