Engineering development for humanity

Michigan Tech created the Enterprise Program to allow students a unique curriculum path for developing and practicing technical and business skills in a multidisciplinary setting where an emphasis is placed on projects and business. Aqua Terra Tech (ATT) like all other enterprises is managed by the students, with Prof. John Gierke serving as advisor and mentor. We are now working on two NSF funded projects. One is to develop interest in the environmental sciences in high school students while the other is to find a clean source of drinking water for the city of Boaco, Nicaragua. Along with these active projects, the members of the enterprise are actively pursuing several technical opportunities with funding agencies, consulting firms, and industries. To date more than 50 students in geological, environmental and civil engineering have participated.
